Decatur, IL's ONLY "Hometown" LOCALLY-OWNED Theater!! The Avon Theater officially opened in 1916, just a few short weeks after the Lincoln Theater opened its doors for the first time. The Avon was a unique place in that it was a large, grand theater, on the scale of the Empress Theater or the Lincoln Theater, but yet the Avon had been constructed for showing moving pictures only. There would be some live entertainment and music, but this theater was a folly to many.... they believed that moving pictures were simply a passing fad and would never last.

Cinema Treasures is a groundbreaking website devoted to movie theater preservation and awareness. Utilizing the community-building capabilities of the Internet, Cinema Treasures unites movie theater owners and enthusiasts in a common cause—to save the last remaining movie palaces across the country.

The Egyptian Theatre; a 1929, fully restored, Egyptian Art Deco movie palace, operated and staffed by the volunteer group, P.E.T. Inc. (Preservation of the Egyptian Theatre). Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the Egyptian is home to 25+ community groups that utilize the theatre every year and the theatre continues to show movies (classic & family films along with film festivals). The Egyptian is also available for rentals, tours, weddings, graduations, small parties and receptions.

The Midway Drive-In opened in 1950 in Sterling, Illinois and has been in continuous operation ever since. The Midway Drive-In is a genuine historical landmark as it is home to the oldest standing Drive-In screen in Illinois. They are dedicated to preserving this Dixon Illinois and Sterling Illinois historical landmark and paying tribute to the American tradition of the Drive-In Theatre.
